code of ethics
Paige Orr's code of ethics

TRUTH AND ACCURACY
I am committed to pursuing truth and reporting it accurately. I will verify information before releasing it, use original sources whenever possible, and identify sources clearly. I will present the facts with proper context and update and correct errors promptly and appropriately.

INDEPENDENCE
I will act independently from those I cover and from outside influences. I will resist pressures to influence coverage and avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived. I will disclose unavoidable conflicts and refuse gifts, favors, or special treatment that could compromise journalistic integrity.

FAIRNESS
I will treat sources, subjects, colleagues, and members of the public as human beings deserving of respect. I will present all sides of issues without favoritism, considering the impact of my words and images on the lives of others. I will exercise care when dealing with vulnerable people and sources.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY
I will be accountable and transparent to the public. I will explain my decisions to audiences, respond to questions about coverage, and acknowledge and correct mistakes quickly. I will expose unethical conduct in journalism, even within my own organization.

MINIMIZING HARM
I will balance the public's need for information against potential harm or discomfort. I will show compassion for those affected by news coverage and exercise special sensitivity when dealing with juveniles, victims of sex crimes, and sources or subjects who are inexperienced with the media.
